Allita Dockery

With nearly 30 years of executive experience spanning strategic planning, philanthropy, community development, institutional advancement, and public engagement, Allita has helped secure nearly $20 million in grant funding to support neighborhood and workforce development, the arts, education, and public health initiatives. A Trustee and board member for local nonprofits, her contributions have earned numerous honors, including the 2024 Business First C-Level Executive Award, the American Planning Association State Chapter- Jane Jacobs Innovation in Neighborhood Planning Award, the American Planning Association WNY Section- Public Education Award, the Buffalo Criterion Roses for Outstanding Women Award, and the BALLE Local Economy Leaders Scholarship. She has also received commendations from local and state leaders for her service and commitment to community advancement.

A former planner with the City of Buffalo's Office of Strategic Planning, Allita prepared the East Delavan Neighborhood Plan, recognized as the first community-authored neighborhood plan adopted into municipal law in the City of Buffalo. 

An advocate for educational innovation, Allita co-founded Wisteria School of Buffalo, a Waldorf-inspired educational initiative created to expand access to holistic, child-centered learning opportunities for families. In this capacity, she established a community whole-share program that helped ensure healthy food reached households within the school community. As Chief Operating Officer of a health equity nonprofit, she designed a Food as Medicine pilot project that integrated food access within a healthcare setting and supported the implementation of a state-sponsored indoor hydroponic food production facility.

Allita holds a Master of Urban Planning from the University at Buffalo and an undergraduate degree from Syracuse University at Utica College.
